Joignez-vous à une nouvelle chorale au centre-ville de Montréal!
Le Conservatoire de McGill démarre une nouvelle chorale d’adultes au centre-ville de Montréal en janvier 2012. Cette chorale est sous la direction de Xavier Brossard-Ménard et présente deux programmes annuels. Les oeuvres sont puisées à même le répertoire classique, lyrique et folklorique mondial. Ce projet débouchera sur des productions lyriques mises en scène dès la saison 2012-2013. Les répétitions ont lieu au centre-ville de Montréal les jeudis de 19 h 30 à 21 h 45 et le coût total des sessions d’hiver et de printemps est de 229 $.
Xavier Brossard-Ménard, le directeur artistique de la chorale, est reconnu pour son dynamisme, sa direction vivante et inspirée et sa recherche des plus hauts standards musicaux.
Venez entendre la division de l’Ouest de l’île de cette chorale en concert le samedi 3 décembre 2011 à 20 h à l’Église St. James the Apostle, 1439, rue Ste-Catherine ouest. Sous la direction de M. Brossard-Ménard, la chorale chantera des œuvres de Bach, Brahms et Respighi. Billets disponibles à la porte:

Be Part of a New Choir in Downtown Montreal!
The McGill Conservatory will establish a new Adult Choir in downtown Montreal starting this coming January 2012. This Choir, under the direction of Xavier Brossard-Ménard, will present two concerts per year. The repertoire will include music from the classical, operatic and folklore genres. This project will lead to a fully-staged operatic production in the 2012-2013 season. Rehearsals will take place downtown on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. and the total cost for the Winter and Spring Terms is $229.00
Xavier Brossard-Ménard, the Artistic Director, is known for his exuberance, his inspiring and animated conducting and his high goal-setting standards.
Come to hear the West Island branch of this McGill Conservatory Adult Choir in concert on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 8 p.m. at the St. James the Apostle Church, 1439 Ste-Catherine Street West. Under the direction of M. Brossard-Ménard, the Choir will perform works by Bach, Brahms and Respighi. Tickets available at the door: $15.00 / $10.00 (students and seniors).

I am a (retired) teacher having taught in a jazz studies course at a tertiary college in Geelong Australia.
My primary interest is to provide as much information as I can to intermediate - advanced jazz piano students.
I record the video (on a cheap webcam), audio (as an MP3 file on my computer) and as a midi file (on my Yamaha P-250 piano) all at the same time so all are in sync.
Usually straight after recording, I add the comments that try to explain some of the melodic/harmonic ideas that I used.
The videos are assembled later - often with transcriptions (generated from the midi file by computer - usually PowerTracks from PGmusic) and always with annotations that explain some of the techniques used.
